Superman Returns is an Academy Award nominated film based on the superhero character Superman from DC Comics. It was directed by Bryan Singer and stars Brandon Routh as Superman, Kate Bosworth, and Kevin Spacey. This film is basically a relaunch of the Superman franchise and was made nearly twenty years since the last Superman film (Superman IV: The Quest for Peace) was released. The movie’s plot takes off after the events of the second Superman movie and revolves around Superman’s return to the planet earth after a 4 year absence. Critics and fans received the film positively and it grossed around $391 million worldwide.
