Superman 3 is the third of the four Superman movies produced between 1978 and 1987. Original cast members Christopher Reeve, Jackie Cooper, Margot Kidder, and Marc McClure are joined by Annette O’Toole, Pamela Stephenson, Annie Ross, Richard Pryor, and Robert Vaughn. Superman 3 was far less successful than the first two Superman films both critically and financially, but still nabbed the fifth place among the highest grossing films in 1983. Superman fans complained that there was too much focus on a comedic storyline, the film’s main villains were not as strong as the others in the series, and that Christopher Reeve was overshadowed by Richard Pryor.
