The movie that brought the man of steel alive in 1978 is Superman, which starred Christopher Reeve. The two Superman films received both great box-office success and critical praise.
I can’t think of any film these days that are able to combine the special and the magic effects and the story that sparks the imagination as much as the original Superman movies did. Sure, the effects seem tacky compared to today’s CGI effects and animations. But it was advanced for its time!

Everytime I exchange stories with friends about superman, the whole conversation will never be complete without mentioning one very significant character. Yep, you got that right. It’s that very smart and wise villain named Lex Luthor.
However, I can’t help but compare between 2 well known and highly respected actors who potrayed the role very well, Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey. Well, we all know how highly acclaimed of an actor Kevin really is. I mean, this guy is not only an academy award winner, he is a multi academy award winner. I also must admit that he is one of my favorites. On the other hand, Gene Hackman has been a very effective and consistent actor doing his own niche. When it comes to being tough, annoying, and quite mismannered role – Gene is really good at these characters, I know kevin is good at these too guys but I must make a decision between the 2 fellows. I strongly believe that Gene Hackman is the best ever Lex Luthor of all times.

Being a superman enthusiast myself, everytime I come accross some folks talking about superman and its never ending story, I would always try to think of the best scenes within the whole story of each film that I enjoyed most. To tell you honestly, the most enjoying part for me within the entire superman big screen film series is that part when superman was still a boy.
Well, we all know that he grew in smallville with his step parents. Now, you may ask, just what is it in those smallville scenes during his childhood captured my interest the most? My answer would be, I noticed that although superman has great powers, he also has quite a number of weaknesses. Because of these weaknesses, he always ends up in a whole lot of trouble. But during his childhood days in smallville, I just love that part when he was discovering his powers, no troubles – just pure fun for him. You just gotta remember that part when he ran as fast as the train. Now, that was a really refreshing part of the whole superman story wasn’t it?

Superman 3 is the third of the four Superman movies produced between 1978 and 1987. Original cast members Christopher Reeve, Jackie Cooper, Margot Kidder, and Marc McClure are joined by Annette O’Toole, Pamela Stephenson, Annie Ross, Richard Pryor, and Robert Vaughn. Superman 3 was far less successful than the first two Superman films both critically and financially, but still nabbed the fifth place among the highest grossing films in 1983. Superman fans complained that there was too much focus on a comedic storyline, the film’s main villains were not as strong as the others in the series, and that Christopher Reeve was overshadowed by Richard Pryor.

Superman II was released in 1980 as the sequel to the 1978 movie adaptation of the DC Comics series Superman. This is the only Superman film that was handled by two directors and was surrounded with controversy for that reason. Original director Richard Donner completed about 75% of the movie in 1977 before he was removed from the project. The scenes shot by the second director, Richard Lester (who was also the uncredited producer of the first Superman film) were basically refilmed Donner scenes. Superman II was released in Europe and Australia in 1980 but it didn’t reach the US until 1981. A re-cut of the film titled Superman II: The Richard Donner cut was released in November 2006 and includes the restoration of Donner’s original concepts.
How Effective was Brandon Routh in the latest superman big screen movie?

Brandon James Routh, this former fashion model turned big time actor just hit it real big in hollywood. I mean this guy came out of nowhere with oozing sex appeal to every lady who watched that latest superman big screen film. Honestly, I thought he was just too beautiful of a guy for a Clark Kent role. I mean, he definitely was perfect in terms of looks being that superman hero. However, my image of the old Clark Kent as was originally portrayed by the late Christopher Reeve, was that he was suppose to be looking quite dumb most of the time. However, with Brandon as the new Clark Kent, he just seemed to be a little too smart in that film. Don’t you agree?
Also, I can’t help but comment that I actually didn’t find a big difference between Clark and superman in that film. Now, this I don’t blame to Brandon’s acting, cause it may all have been what the director really intended for the film. So if you ask me, was Brandon effective? He definitely was effective in portraying a whole new perspective of a superman and the modern Clark Kent at the same time.

The unthinkable and death of Supergirl in issue 7 of Crisis on Infinite Earths in 1985 DC. It was in history as one of the biggest comic book mini series of all time. It put end to the multiverse to explain the existence of the original Juice Society and the original Superman existing as far back as World War II.

Superwoman was the first ever mention and a story was published in Action Comics in May 1943 with title “Lois Lane – Superwoman” This was not the Supergirl we are familiar with. More stories featuring Lois Lane gaining super powers and soon to become Superwoman would follow but still there is no Supergirl.
