Superman 3 is the third of the four Superman movies produced between 1978 and 1987. Original cast members Christopher Reeve, Jackie Cooper, Margot Kidder, and Marc McClure are joined by Annette O’Toole, Pamela Stephenson, Annie Ross, Richard Pryor, and Robert Vaughn. Superman 3 was far less successful than the first two Superman films both critically and financially, but still nabbed the fifth place among the highest grossing films in 1983. Superman fans complained that there was too much focus on a comedic storyline, the film’s main villains were not as strong as the others in the series, and that Christopher Reeve was overshadowed by Richard Pryor.

Superman II was released in 1980 as the sequel to the 1978 movie adaptation of the DC Comics series Superman. This is the only Superman film that was handled by two directors and was surrounded with controversy for that reason. Original director Richard Donner completed about 75% of the movie in 1977 before he was removed from the project. The scenes shot by the second director, Richard Lester (who was also the uncredited producer of the first Superman film) were basically refilmed Donner scenes. Superman II was released in Europe and Australia in 1980 but it didn’t reach the US until 1981. A re-cut of the film titled Superman II: The Richard Donner cut was released in November 2006 and includes the restoration of Donner’s original concepts.

Brandon James Routh, this former fashion model turned big time actor just hit it real big in hollywood. I mean this guy came out of nowhere with oozing sex appeal to every lady who watched that latest superman big screen film. Honestly, I thought he was just too beautiful of a guy for a Clark Kent role. I mean, he definitely was perfect in terms of looks being that superman hero. However, my image of the old Clark Kent as was originally portrayed by the late Christopher Reeve, was that he was suppose to be looking quite dumb most of the time. However, with Brandon as the new Clark Kent, he just seemed to be a little too smart in that film. Don’t you agree?
Also, I can’t help but comment that I actually didn’t find a big difference between Clark and superman in that film. Now, this I don’t blame to Brandon’s acting, cause it may all have been what the director really intended for the film. So if you ask me, was Brandon effective? He definitely was effective in portraying a whole new perspective of a superman and the modern Clark Kent at the same time.

Superwoman was the first ever mention and a story was published in Action Comics in May 1943 with title “Lois Lane – Superwoman” This was not the Supergirl we are familiar with. More stories featuring Lois Lane gaining super powers and soon to become Superwoman would follow but still there is no Supergirl.

Looking back in all superman films in the past, I can’t help but notice how an immortal guy could really go gaga over an ordinary human in the persona of Lois Lane. Well of course I’m not forgeting that it is all a fiction based story you guys. However, I just can’t help but wonder, what if the original writer of the story have thought to change things a little bit different wherein it would make the situation much better for Clark and Lois?
What if Lois openly knows about Clark, of course there are instances in the story where Lois finally discovered Clark’s secrets, but what im trying to point out is – why not make the story in such a way that Lois knows all about superman and Clark’s identity the whole time? Hmm, do you think the story tellers can do that and still keep that thrill in their romance alive? You know what? I think I’ll leave that up to you.

First there was the comic book Action Comics but before even Kirk Alyn took off into the wild blue yonder there was Max and Dave Fleischer’s Superman cartoon shorts shown before movie features in the early forties. No one would even come close to the quality of these cartoons until the 1990’s “Superman the Animated Series”.
